The American artist Sharon Lockhart is one of the key figures in contemporary conceptual photography and neo-structuralist film. In her works she examines the relation between camera and image. The edition Sharon Lockhart has conceived for “Texte zur Kunst” is reflecting the interaction between film and photography. A wide screen view on a winter landscape showing nothing specific: a street, a power line, trees and some hills in the distant. The title, however, indicates that this landscape was not photographed for its own sake: „View from Hollis Frampton’s House in Eaton, New York“ lets us know that we experience the view experimental filmmaker, poet and photographer Hollis Frampton saw when looking through the window of his house. The perspective chosen by Lockhart shows connections in their works: time, duration and incidents play a crucial part in both of their films and photographs.
