Searching For Gramsci (2003)

ALFREDO JAAR, born in 1956 in Santiago/Chile, who has been living in New York since 1982, studied architecture and film before establishing himself in the international art scene. He is famous above all for his photos and his image-text-installations such as the "Rwanda Project 1994-2000"; projects in which he addresses questions of the relationship of ethics, politics and aesthetics. His work "Lament of the images", a statement about the power of images in our society, was presented at last year's Documenta 11.

For Texte zur Kunst, Alfredo Jaar selected a photo from his current project about Antonio Gramsci for MACRO, the museum for contemporary art in Rome. The color photo with the title "Looking for Gramsci" (2003) is 40 x 50 cm and is numbered and signed on the back. It is an edition of 120 + 20 ap's and costs 245. - euros plus shipping.
