Hermann Nitsch

Unikatgraphiken O.T. (2002)

Hermann Nitsch, born 1938 in Vienna, is not thinkable without the 'Wiener Aktionisten' whose initiator he was and whose tradition he is still upholding. Coming from graphic arts and painting he developed in 1957 his idea of the 'Orgien-Mysterien-Theater' (OMT) - a new form of a 'Gesamtkunstwerk' - influenced by the Greek mystery-celebrations with the aim of catharsis - that involves not only painting, architecture and music but also all the senses of its participants. Until now OMT reached it's climax in the '6-days-play' 1998 in Prinzendorf. Apart from these 'theatrical painting-actions', that he began in 1960 together with Otto Mühl, since the 90s he has been more occupied with autonomous painting. Since 1989 he has been teaching at the Art-Academie (Städelschule) in Frankfurt/Main.

For Texte zur Kunst, Hermann Nitsch produced expended, coloured , unique graphics, etchings in different variations on handmade and handpainted paper (papersize: 30 x 21 cm). The edition with the title "Unikatgraphiken O.T.", 2002 is signed at the front. It is an edition of 100 + 10 ap's and it costs EUR 245,- + handling and shipping.
