Allan McCollum
Visible Markers (2000)
"Trademarks" of the New York based artist Allan McCollum (1944) are works which are shifting between tradition and industrial mass production. His paintings, photos and sculptures elaborate on discourses of originality and seriality. Internationally renowned since decades, McCollum’s work was exhibited not only in various shows at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, but also at the Kunstverein in Düsseldorf (1989) and the Sprengel Museum Hannover (1995). For us he is producing oval plaster objects which belong to a group of works called "Visible Markers". Inscribed in the object you find the wordrelief DANKE (Thanks). 150 sets of 5 pieces each, measuring 7,5 x 4 cm.
