For “Texte zur Kunst” Manfred Pernice has conceived a sculpture that resembles a snowman. However, the title of the object “united buddy 05” refers to the heraldic animal of Berlin, the bear. At the same time “United Buddy Bears” is the title of an artistic project during which 120 larger than life-seized bears were spread over the German capitol representing every member state of the United Nations. The animal sculptures functioned as symbols of international understanding and starting in Berlin toured around the world. By interweaving two symbolic forms like the bear and the snowman Pernice seeks to create a new form that should enable the beholders to make up their own arbitrary approach to systems of references.
