Thomas Hirschhorn
Power of Brazil (2006)
In his installations, always deliberately appearing to be only provisionary, Swiss artist THOMAS HIRSCHHORN, born 1957, mainly combines seemingly banal, easily accessible and cheap looking materials with writings, photographs, videos and objects. Many of his pieces are dedicated to historical figures, for instance his "Bataille monument" for Documenta 11 or the more recent "Ingeborg Bachmann Altar", shown this year at Alexanderplatz in Berlin. From 1978 to 1983 Hirschhorn pursued his studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Zurich and has been living in Paris since 1984.
For "Texte zur Kunst" Hirschhorn has chosen a work showing analogies to the "Dessin Jaloux" series. The edition is an offset print entitled "Power of Brazil", 2006 and measures 84 x 89 cm. It is an edition of 120 + 20 AP's, signed and numbered, and costs 245.- Euro plus shipping.
